Information for your patients and their families
For families of children suspected of having COVID-19, clinicians should prepare and distribute printed handouts with website addresses and other links to CDC, AAP, and other resources.
External resources
- The CDC COVID-19 website contains a lot of materials targeted to parents, e.g., “Caring for Someone at Home”; “If you have Animals”; “Preventing the Spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 in Homes and Residential Communities”. Parents should be referred to that website.

- The American Academy of Family Practice (AAFP) familydoctor.org website also addresses a number of COVID-19 topics targeted at patients and families including:
- The Virginia Department of Health web site has a detailed set of personal care prevention tips and a set of frequently asked questions and answers.
- Clinicians may wish to have printed copies in their office of some of the most appropriate web-based parent-oriented and family-oriented materials to provide them directly to parents and families that may not have easy internet or printer access.
