Care for craniofacial patients who have trouble breathing

About airway evaluations

Our pediatric airway team provides evaluations for children who have craniofacial conditions that affect breathing.

Many newborns with airway problems require admission to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) right after birth. While a child is in this unit, a consultation with our pediatric airway team can be requested by the child's neonatologist (newborn-care specialist). 

Our pediatric airway team members include pediatric surgeons, pulmonologists (lung specialists), otolaryngologists (ear, nose and throat specialists) and plastic surgeons. Working together, the team will provide a multidisciplinary consultation and give recommendations to families and neonatologists about treatment plans and procedures to ensure the safety of the child’s airway and breathing.

Airway evaluations are also available for older children and for newborns who are not in the NICU an outpatient basis.
