Pediatric telehealth services

We know that illness and injury doesn’t stop for a pandemic – and neither do we. Health care looks a little different these days. We’re here for our Virginia families in person and “virtually” through telehealth during these challenging times. Pediatric telehealth or “virtual visits” are efficient, convenient and safe and can be done for everything from sick visits and physical therapy – to surgery follow-up and well-child checkups.

Drive-thru COVID testing for children and teens

We offer convenient, drive-thru COVID-19 testing for children of all ages who have been exposed to COVID-19 or are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. Testing is done via a simple swab of the inside of the nose and results are typically available within 24-48 hours.

  • Tests can be ordered by your regular CHoR provider
  • Once you’ve confirmed with your provider you can drive up! You do not need to schedule your child’s test
  • NOTE: You cannot arrive for a test without first confirming with your provider

Connect to a health care provider through pediatric telemedicine appointments from the comfort of your home

To meet with a virtual provider, you just need a mobile device, tablet or computer with internet connection. You will receive instructions on how to prepare for the visit. On your appointment day, you will be able to discuss any symptoms, review results, schedule a follow-up appointment and more.

How to schedule a telemedicine appointment for your child

Step 1: Call 804-828-CHOR or request an appointment online

For physical, occupational or speech therapy appointments, please call the therapy center nearest you.

Step 2: When scheduling your child's appointment, choose between a video visit or a telephone visit. We’ll go through the necessary technology and answer any questions you have as we schedule the appointment.

Step 3: On the day of your child’s appointment, we will call you 20 minutes before the appointment to ensure you are ready for your visit. We will be there for any questions, and to make sure everything is ready for you to see your provider.

Tips for a great telehealth visit

How much do virtual visits cost?

Virtual visits will not cost more than in-person visits, but depending on the health insurance coverage plan, a patient’s copay for in-person and virtual visits may now be the same.

We are committed to providing our patients access to affordable health care. Patients with more questions can visit our financial assistance page or call our Financial Counseling Call Center at (804) 828-0966.

Preparing for your virtual appointment: How to get connected face-to-face

Whether your child is a new or existing patient, we offer various ways to connect to the care they need, when they need it. We are using a few different platforms and your provider’s office will determine which platform will be used for your child’s visit.

Once your appointment is scheduled, look for an email that outlines any further step-by-step instructions.
