Hello and Welcome to CHoR! My name is Shaikha Alqahtani. I am one of the third-year categorical pediatrics residents. I graduated from Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar campus. I grew up in Qatar all my life. I am the first on both sides of my family to become a doctor to graduate college. VCU was my first interview and I quickly realized how easy it was to talk to other residents and faculty. It was my gut feeling that got me to VCU and it was absolutely right! Richmond has soon become my second home. I loved that the river is 10 minutes away from work. There are a variety of food cuisines available to try which is easy to do as the cost of life is affordable! I adopted my cat “Dean” in the middle of intern year. I got lucky and was able to match here with two of my best friends who are also in Peds ( Sara Taha and Imen Becetti). I enjoy baking and yes that means that I would bring whatever I bake to work! I also like making DIY giveaways for my friends and co-residents whenever I can! I am currently interviewing for a pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship.
