My name is Samson Makonnen and I am a PGY-3 resident. I went to undergrad at the University of California Davis and attended the University of Texas Medical Branch for Medical School. I applied primary to east coast schools to be closer to my wife who works in Baltimore, Maryland. The tandem scheduling and meeting the residents and staff are what made VCU my number one choice. Since then I have fallen in love with Richmond. It's a hidden gem of a city and an amazing foodie town. After graduation, I am planning on working in Outpatient Pediatrics in an underserved area.
