Hey there! I'm Andrew Hanna. I'm a PGY-3 Med-Peds resident, and I love this program! I'm originally from Maryland, and I went to school at Virginia Tech Carilion in Roanoke, Virginia. I knew that I wanted to come to Richmond not only because of the beautiful city and all the things to do here but also because of the culture that I saw in the Med-Peds and categorical programs.
I really appreciate the academic culture, while also being an environment relaxed enough so that I always feel comfortable asking questions and getting help from my teammates. I really enjoy hanging out with my co-residents out in Richmond and even the times we can spend together in the hospital. If you're going to spend all week with a group of people, it helps a lot if you're looking forward to work every day. When I'm not at work, I love to explore outdoor Richmond on my bike (there are still new places I haven't been!), swimming in the James River, or just visiting any of the 200 Richmond restaurants on my Yelp list. I'm making good progress in chipping through that list! I won't advertise my favorite spot so it doesn't get crowded, so you'll have to ask me in person for the most hipster recommendations!
