Traffic and parking impacts for CHoR patients and visitors, plus what to watch for in this year’s parade

Have you heard the news? The route for this year’s Dominion Energy Richmond Christmas Parade has been extended three blocks to pass the Children’s Tower! We’re thrilled this Richmond tradition will bring holiday joy to our patients, families and team members.

Here’s what you need to know about accessing the Children’s Pavilion and Tower

  • Access to the Children’s Parking Deck via 10th Street will be unavailable on Saturday from approximately 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Don’t worry! You’ll still be able to self-park on levels P1-P3 via a temporary entrance on 11th Street. Signage will be in place to direct you.
  • You can exit the deck on 11th Street as well and turn right on Marshall Street or continue straight to Leigh Street.

Have an emergency? We are still open and prepared to care for your child!

  • The CHoR emergency department will be open and accessible by parking and coming into the building through Level 1/Sky Lobby.
  • You can also pull into the ED drive at 1001 E. Marshall Street (accessible from 11th Street).

Giant balloons, marching bands, floats and more

Keep an eye out for Ernie and some of your favorite CHoR team members walking with the super-sized balloon. Our CHoR patients also voted for this year’s grand marshal, Clifford the Big Red Dog! They’ll be among the 100+ units bringing energy and fun to kick off the holiday season. If you can’t make it out to see the parade in person, tune in to WTVR CBS 6 at 10 a.m. to watch it live on tv.

Do you follow CHoR on social media? Look for the latest parade updates on Facebook or our other channels.
