Partial Hospitalization Program: Mood and anxiety track

Now enrolling: Services begin Sept. 8

What is a partial hospitalization program?

Our new Partial Hospitalization Program is designed to meet the needs of children and teens who don’t require inpatient care, but could benefit from a supportive, intensive and coordinated day-treatment environment.

This 10-day program is specially designed to help children and teens build coping skills and strategies to address the challenges they face.

The program includes:

  • Multifamily group therapy
  • Individual therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Dialectal behavioral therapy – focuses on restructuring thoughts to change behaviors
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy – helps patients manage intense emotions, maladaptive (negative or irrational) thinking patterns and problematic behaviors

Our team includes licensed clinical social workers, licensed clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, registered nurses, advanced practice providers, occupational therapists and mental health partners.

Who qualifies for the program?

Children ages 6–17 (grades 1-12) who:

  • Are experiencing depression, anxiety or bipolar disorder
  • Are at an elevated risk for inpatient psychiatric hospitalization (or rehospitalization)
  • Are experiencing significant emotional, behavioral or social distress that exceeds their ability to effectively cope
  • Have received outpatient treatment in the past, but treatment hasn’t been effective
  • Do not pose an immediate danger to themselves or others

Family involvement

Family/caregiver involvement is essential for treatment to be effective. Parents participate in groups, family therapy and provide updates to the treatment team.

Transportation

Parents/guardians are responsible for transporting their child to and from the program, regardless of whether the patient is eligible to drive.

Who can refer to the program?

We accept referrals from parents/guardians, medical professionals and community service boards.
