October Calendar Kid Elijah Willis, 8, was nominated for the calendar by his dentist, Dr. Elizabeth Bortell. He’s been seeing Dr. Bortell for dental care since he was referred to CHoR’s dental program for fillings when he was 2.

Elijah loves to sing and gives the dental team a show each time he comes for a visit. His larger-than-life entertaining personality is one of the reasons he was nominated for the 2016 TidBits calendar.

“He loves to be in the spotlight,” his mom Khari says.

Elijah’s big personality definitely came through in his photos and during the photo shoot. He’s an only child who, according to his mom, really enjoys playing with other kids, and one of the most memorable pictures in this year’s calendar came together at his request. Elijah asked if he could have his picture taken with the other kids who were also there for photos at the time. The end result included some fun candid shots, like the group photos below, that are great reminders of why we do what we do at CHoR – to help kids get to be goofy kids!

Elijah says the photos with his new friends were his favorite pictures of the day. He also says that while he considers every visit to CHoR to be a memorable experience, one of the things he likes best about coming to the dental clinic is that he always gets a book to take home and that his dental team encourages his reading.

“They make him feel so comfortable when he comes to see them,” Khari adds. “We would definitely recommend CHoR to friends, and if Elijah ever needed other services at CHoR, I would not hesitate to bring him.”
