Research areas

Despite the awareness that critical illness has lasting impacts on cognitive and psychological outcomes after discharge from intensive care, there are few if any representative models in which to study the relevant cellular and molecular effects. Our lab "reverse translates" observations from clinical studies into high-fidelity animal models, and studies the early and late impacts of critical illness stressors (inflammation, sedation, etc) on the developing brain.
