Learn about our match program

The pediatric research office provides comprehensive pre- and post- award assistance to clinical and basic science pediatric researchers, including administrative, fiscal, regulatory, and study coordination support. We support a wide range of projects that reflect the diversity of awards won by our pediatric faculty, including awards from National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, pharmaceutical sponsors and foundations (American Heart Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Dental Association (ADA), Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, etc.).

We also manage internally competed opportunities such as Children’s Hospital Foundation seed grants, Child Health Research Institute and VCU OVPRI’s QUEST and Breakthrough Awards.

Research support can include:

  • Funding opportunity identification and guidance
  • Proposal development, timeline and submission support
  • Collaborative division-wide research strategy development
  • Study planning and feasibility assessment using VCU cohort discovery tools (i.e., TriNetX, Informatics, etc)
  • Education on institutional process requirements for study start (i.e., PROC, study intake, IRB development and submission, etc.), or coordinator support to complete
  • Contract process management and budget development
  • Regulatory support (i.e., education, implementation and maintenance)
  • Participant identification, recruitment and enrollment
  • Research visits conduct, assessment completion and data/source documentation completion
  • Database development and/or management, data entry and query resolution
  • Study close-out and storage/maintenance of study-related documents
