Bio

Dr. Paul Koch is a board-certified, fellowship-trained neurosurgeon who specializes in surgery for movement disorders, including focused ultrasound and deep brain stimulation (DBS) for essential tremor and Parkinson’s disease, as well as surgery for refractory epilepsy. He joined VCU Health in 2018 after completing residency training with Dr. Gordon Baltuch at the University of Pennsylvania and fellowship training with Dr. Robert Gross at Emory University, both world leaders in surgery for movement disorders.

With a wealth of experience and expertise, Dr. Koch is at the forefront of medical innovation and led the first focused ultrasound procedure at VCU Medical Center. His patient-centric approach and dedication to cutting-edge treatments will transform the lives of countless individuals suffering from essential tremor and other neurological conditions.

Dr Koch shows concern and compassion to patients. He is committed to giving you the best of care possible. He takes his time to explain the pros and cons the treatments. He's thorough, and provides the information without pressure. You're not expected to make a lifetime decision on the spot. He's the best. His smile looks like sunshine so that is extremely helpful.
