Bio
Dr. Garr joined the CHoR faculty in 2026. She is an assistant professor and licensed clinical psychologist in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Cincinnati and completed her predoctoral clinical internship at Brown University, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University.
With specialization in pediatric psychology, Dr. Garr has expertise in chronic disease management and health behavior change, including obesity, weight management, and diabetes. She partners closely with families to build practical coping skills and promote sustainable health behavior changes that support daily functioning, emotional well-being, and long-term health.
Dr. Garr is licensed by the Virginia Board of Psychology in clinical psychology. She is a member of the Society of Behavioral Medicine, Society of Pediatric Psychology, and The Obesity Society.
