Bio
Dr. Silverstein had eye muscle surgery when he was 5-years-old and his experiences with pediatric ophthalmologist, Dr. Marshall Parks, inspired him to become a pediatric ophthalmologist. Dr. Silverstein is a Virginia Native and a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. He is a member of the Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Virginia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
Dr. Silverstein is a co-founding member of the University of Pennsylvania Medical Emergency Response Team, a student-run emergency first response team staffed by trained EMTs.
In 2017, Dr. Silverstein developed 9 Gaze, an easy, quick, and efficient way to document eye motility and strabismus in the 9 cardinal positions of gaze. The app is intended for use by ophthalmologists. Download it here. *This application is not endorsed by VCU Health System
Dr. Silverstein was recognized as a Top Doc in Richmond magazine in 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. He was honored in OurHealth Richmond magazine's Best Bedside Manner issue in 2018 and 2019 and named a Top Doctor in Virginia Business in 2024.
