Christopher Bayne, MD

Dr. Christopher Bayne joined the CHoR team in 2026. He is a board-certified pediatric urologist who enjoys caring for children across the entire spectrum of pediatric urological needs. He has a special interest in congenital urinary tract obstruction and caring for children and young adults with spina bifida and spinal cord injury, including the complex medical and surgical management of neuropathic (neurogenic) bladder and bowel.

Dr. Bayne also has a strong interest in minimally invasive robotic surgery for children, with experience in both multiport and single-port robotic techniques. He has helped introduce single-port robotic surgery to pediatric urology programs in several states and has written and taught on the topic. He works with families to find the surgical approach that best fits their child's unique situation.

Before joining CHoR, Dr. Bayne was on faculty at the University of Florida, where he served as Associate Program Director of the Urology Residency Program, and later at Carilion Clinic/Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, where he served as Section Chief of Urology and established the region’s first pediatric urology program. Teaching has been a consistent thread throughout his career, and he has been recognized several times for his contributions to resident and student education.
