Bio

Dr. Nayef Chahin, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a 2019 elected Academic Pediatric Association Research Scholar.

Dr. Chahin is an Associate Program Director of Intern Recruitment for the Department of Pediatric residency Program and a member of the VCU School of Medicine Neonatal Perinatal Fellowship Advisory Committee. Clinical scholarship and research interests include environmental factors that ameliorate bronchopulmonary dysplasia and chronic lung disease of infancy with a current emphasis on the role of Vitamin C and lung disease.

Dr. Chahin serves clinically as attending faculty at the Children's Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Neonatal Continuing Care Program regional Neonatal follow-up Program as well as the Chippenham Hospital and Johnston-Willis (CJW) Hospital Newborn and Neonatal Intensive Care and Newborn Services and on the CHOR Air and Ground NICU Transport Team. Dr. Chahin leads several CHOR NICU QI Committees including the BPD Committee, the Unplanned Extubation Committee and the Nutrition Committee, and is a member of the Perinatal Quality Council at CJW. 

Dr. Chahin enjoys skiing, playing the guitar, mountain and road biking and spending time with his wife and daughter.
