Dr. Silverstein had eye muscle surgery when he was 5-years-old and his experiences with pediatric ophthalmologist, Dr. Marshall Parks, inspired him to become a pediatric ophthalmologist. Dr. Silverstein is a Virginia Native and a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. He is a member of the Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Virginia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
Dr. Silverstein is a co-founding member of the University of Pennsylvania Medical Emergency Response Team, a student-run emergency first response team staffed by trained EMTs.
In 2017, Dr. Silverstein developed 9 Gaze, an easy, quick, and efficient way to document eye motility and strabismus in the 9 cardinal positions of gaze. The app is intended for use by ophthalmologists. Download it here.
