Empower growth
Help us meet today’s needs. And whatever comes next.
Just as articulated needs and priorities drive our strategic plan and vision, our preparedness for the unknown is critical to our success. This is particularly true for safety net hospitals such as ours, which treat all patients regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay. Last year, Medicaid recipients made up 61% of our patient volume, highlighting the importance of CHoR’s mission and the role we play in making sure every child receives the healthcare they need and deserve.
It is vital that CHoR have the funding needed to remain flexible and responsive to tremendous opportunities and unforeseen needs. Unrestricted funding from philanthropy gives CHoR leadership the ability to address priorities across all areas of the hospital’s mission. From recruiting top-tier clinicians to acquiring specialized equipment, protecting time for research, and aiding our residents and fellows, unrestricted funding has driven remarkable results across all our programs and services.
Unrestricted gifts can transform entire programs. For instance, funding directed to our pediatric epilepsy center facilitated the recruitment of a new program director, resulting in our accreditation as a Level 4 Epilepsy Center which now offers our community the most advanced and specialized epilepsy care in the region. Similarly, unrestricted resources directed to our You Can Control Asthma Now (UCAN) program have empowered children to live active, healthy lives by offering personalized, culturally sensitive and relationship-based care. As a result, program participants have experienced a more than 50% reduction in missed school days and asthma-related urgent care visits. These examples demonstrate just a few of the many ways unrestricted gifts are essential in driving meaningful change, allowing us to continually enhance our programs and deliver the highest quality care to those who need it most.
