Carnival games and treats bring smiles in the hospital
Donors help us do a lot of things at CHoR – from building new programs and facilities, to celebrating our patients and team members. Recently, Markel had a hand in both.
Last week, 20 volunteers from Markel spent their afternoon bringing joy and play to the Children’s Tower. For patients, this came in the form of a spring carnival in the indoor garden, while patients, families and team members alike enjoyed ice cream, popcorn and other carnival treats in the Children’s Hospital Cafeteria. Markel also donated more than 400 children’s books to be distributed to kids passing through Sky Lobby on their way to appointments in the Children’s Pavilion.
A center of support for CHoR families
Sometimes the smiles Markel brings to faces at CHoR come in more subtle, but essential ways. Over the past two years, they’ve made gifts to our Family Resource Center which provides patient families with support and navigation of services related to food, housing, transportation and utilities. This is all part of a larger, ongoing effort by Markel to help their community thrive.
