CHoR docs among the best in Richmond magazine’s 2018 ‘Top Docs’ list

Each year Richmond magazine asks doctors in Central Virginia to nominate fellow ‘Top Docs’ in the region. They’re asked to think about which local care providers they would visit themselves or recommend to family members. An extraordinary 78 of our CHoR physicians and surgeons made the 2018 list!

“I am proud to see so many of our physicians and surgeons named Top Docs by their peers,” said Elias Neujahr, CEO of CHoR. “We have an incredible team at CHoR – and we’re growing. Last year 68 of our colleagues were named in the survey, and I’m proud to say many of our new faculty are now ranked among the best. We are dedicated to advancing children’s health – and we do so by growing our people, programs and places to meet the needs of kids and families in our community.”

Special honors

The magazine also recognized two CHoR health care leaders with special honors.

Suzanne Britt, director of the Children’s Pavilion, was called, “a tireless advocate for children’s health, for the physicians and providers in our department, a leader in the field.” Britt not only ensures that everything is running smoothly today, but she looks to the future to meet the health care needs of our community moving forward. “It’s all worth it when we see the end result of quality, family-friendly services and facilities,” said Britt. “There are many hands and hearts involved in our team and I feel privileged to be among them.”

Dr. Robin Foster, director of the Child Protection Team was recognized for leading the charge to care for nearly 1,000 abused and neglected children across the state.

“Robin is always the one at the table saying, ‘What else can we do?’ said Jeanine Harper, executive director of Stop Child Abuse Now. “When you’re talking about a child who’s been sexually abused or a child who has been injured due to physical abuse or neglect – it kind of doesn’t get much harder than that,” Harper said. “Robin lives in the deep end of that work.”

Foster told Richmond Magazine, “In my 20-plus years with the child abuse team, I’ve seen children who have been chronically abused and neglected in their environment for years. And once those children are provided a protected environment, I’ve seen them knock everyone’s socks off in terms of what they’ve been able to accomplish…to be able to have the privilege of being the person who helped advocate for those children and tried to get them into an environment where that can happen is the best job in the world.”
