Bring the magic of the season to kids at CHoR through holiday donations

Everyone knows the real magic of the holidays happens when you’re giving back and helping others. Each year, children and families spend their holidays receiving care at CHoR, but thanks to the expertise of our child life team and generosity of the community, they still enjoy the spirit of the season.

Child life helps kids all year long, with some special surprises during the holidays

The child life team at CHoR includes 13 specialists trained in helping kids and families adjust and thrive in the hospital setting. There are several ways you can support them this holiday season, from providing in-demand, brand-new toys to donating funds.

How you can support the child life team and patients at CHoR

    • Online cash donation. Select child life in the gift designation field at chfrichmond.org/donate
    • Mail checks. Please note child life in the memo and send to Children’s Hospital Foundation, Box 980693, Richmond, VA 23298.
    • Mail Amazon, Walmart and Target gift cards. Mail to Child Life Department, Box 980202, Richmond, VA 23298-0202.
    • Purchase wish list items. Visit wish lists on chrichmond.org/childlife to purchase items online from Amazon and have them shipped directly and safely to child life.
    • Drop off items on Dec. 16,18 and 19. Shop the child life wish lists and deliver donations to the 12th Street Visitor Deck (529 N. 12th Street) at prescheduled holiday drop off dates.

    December 16, 3 - 7 p.m.
    December 18, 1 - 5 p.m.
    December 19, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

“Even with updated guidelines, there are still so many creative and meaningful ways to give back and make this holiday season as special as possible for children and their families receiving care at CHoR,” said Emily Toalson with Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Every donation makes a difference, and we encourage you to consider helping us spread the holiday joy through one of our many ways to give.”

Child life accepts all new toys and items from brands like Fisher Price, Little People, Playskool, Oball or Melissa and Doug. We’re unable to accept used items, religious or political items, violent toys (i.e. Nerf guns), dollar store items or holiday themed items.

The holiday season should be a magical time, no matter where or how you celebrate.
