Our neuromuscular clinic includes compassionate experts from several pediatric specialties as part of our interdisciplinary Neurosciences Center. The team provides support and treatment that can make a big difference in your child's quality of life – and your own. 

Our clinic is designated among the select 150 top U.S. hospitals that serve as Muscular Dystrophy Association Care Centers, which help to advance clinical care and medical research.  

Conditions and treatment 

Muscular dystrophy includes diseases that can weaken and break down muscles over time. In addition to muscular dystrophy, our clinical team treats children with: 

  • Friedreich's ataxia, a genetic disorder that can impact arms and legs (walking), as well as speech 
  • Myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune disease that causes muscle weakness 
  • Spinal muscular atrophy, a rare disorder that can break down muscles 

Treatment can include: 

  • Medication 
  • Surgery 
  • Physical therapy 
  • Assistive technology
