Cheers everyone and welcome to VCU Pediatrics! We are so excited that you are considering us for your residency training. VCU is a phenomenal hospital to train at and the residents that are in our program are truly some of the best. When I was on the interview trail I felt that the interactions with current residents made or broke the program for me. I knew right from my interview dinner that these were the people I wanted to be awake at 3 am saving lives with. Now having started my intern year, I know that I made the right decision. My co-residents are amazing, the attendings are very supportive teachers, and our currently-under-construction children’s hospital is going to be gorgeous. Being a Navy brat I’ve moved around quite often, but I consider Virginia home since I’ve lived here off and on the longest. I attended undergrad at UVa (Go Hoos!), graduate school in Boston, and medical school at the University of Queensland - Ochsner Clinical School in Australia and New Orleans. Richmond is a great place to call home not only because we have so much to do right here in the city (whether you have a family or just a puppy-like myself), but also because we are right in the middle of the mountains, the ocean, and DC for much needed day off adventures! This virtual interview season is going to make history, and we hope that you will join us at VCU to make your own. Please feel free to reach out to any of us with any questions!
