Ferguson, Leslie, MD Leslie Ferguson, MD

Virginia Commonwealth University SOM

Hello! I'm Leslie Ferguson and I'm a Categorical Pediatrics PGY-2 at VCU. I'm originally from Eastern North Carolina but moved to Richmond just before high school. I went away to the University of Maryland for college (Go Terps!) before returning to Richmond for med school and residency.

I absolutely love being at VCU and wouldn't trade my experience here for anything in the world. My co-residents are amazing people that I love spending time with, and I am thankful that we have such wonderful, supportive faculty who take the time to teach and ensure that we learn the best skills to be outstanding clinicians. I also love working at a hospital that has such a wide outreach, as we see patients from all corners of the state of Virginia. We see both bread and butter medicine as well as complex care involving multiple subspecialties, and it makes for a great educational opportunity for both residents who want to pursue primary care pediatrics or residents who want to pursue a subspecialty career in pediatrics.

And I can't forget about Richmond: it's a wonderful place to live and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else! It is affordable, and you have a lot of awesome options for housing in unique neighborhoods with great food and lots of activities. My husband and I love spending time outside at many of the great parks, festivals, and places along the river. We have many fantastic museums and galleries, and you can't forget about the food scene. And if you want to go away from the weekend, you're only about 2 hours away from DC, 1.5 hours away from the beach, and 1.5 hours away from the mountains. It's the best of all worlds! Please reach out to us if you have any questions at all. I can't wait to hear from you all and meet all of you. Best of luck with the application/interview season!
