Hi friends welcome to VCU! My name is Leila and I'm a 3rd year medpeds resident. I grew up outside of DC, completed my undergrad and graduate degrees in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology at UMBC. I stayed in Baltimore for medical school at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and I finally ventured south of the mason dixon line to complete my residency at VCU!

I absolutely adore Richmond, it is the perfect blend of city and small town. The river is gorgeous and a short walk from my home, we have some of the best restaurants and dessert spots, and to top it off there is always an amazing festival going on in town! My favorite thing about VCU is the sense of family among all the residents, I feel this in the internal medicine, pediatric, and medpeds programs. At VCU we have the perfect balance between being well supported but also being challenged which is something that I searched for in a program.
