Hi y’all! My name is Elena Krahe, but everyone calls me “Laney”. I went to Christopher Newport University for undergrad and then headed to Blacksburg, Virginia for medical school at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. Go Hokies! I was beyond thrilled when my husband and I couples matched at VCU for Pediatrics and Internal Medicine. I am born and raised in Richmond and I couldn’t be more excited to be back in my beautiful hometown for residency! This city has so much to offer, and if you are a foodie like me I promise you won’t be disappointed with the outstanding restaurant scene. My husband and I also love to go for walks at some of the many amazing green spaces in the city like Browns Island which is right on the James River. Some of my other interests include dancing, cooking, baking, working out, watching Parks & Rec and The Great British Baking Show on Netflix, or heading to some of the wineries close by in Charlottesville or Williamsburg for a fun quick trip on a weekend!

The biggest thing I love about VCU’s Pediatric residency is the people here! I could not have asked for a better group of residents, fellows and attendings to work with every day! This program is full of amazing people who create a fun, positive, and supportive learning environment. Also, you can always count on there being fresh baked goods in our team rooms which is a major bonus! Can’t wait to meet you all and we hope you consider VCU!
