My name is Jerica. I want to medical school at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark NJ, just across the river from NYC. I was getting tired of the hustle and bustle of the NYC area. I wanted a place to live that still had the amenities of a city, but with less congestion. Richmond is a great small city, with plenty of restaurants and sites to see, and I rarely get stuck in traffic or bump shoulders while walking on the street. Pre-COVID, my husband, dog and I loved going to breweries and bars with outdoor seating. With the pandemic, we have kept busy with the many trails around the James River. Virginia has many state and national parks, and we have also enjoyed camping at Shenandoah National Park (about 1 hr away) near the Appalachian Trail, and First Landing State Park at Virginia Beach (about 2 hours away). Fall and winter here are quite mild, so we have been able to continue enjoying outdoor activities yearround. Summers can be warm, but it's easy to find an apartment with pool access!
