University of Kentucky COM

Hey everyone! I’m Griff, one of the pediatric interns at VCU. I’m was born and raised in Louisville, KY, and then moved to Lexington, KY for both undergrad and medical school. When interviewing for residencies, one of the biggest factors I took into account was how well I connected with the residents. I’m very excited to have matched here and that I get to work with some of the best co-residents, attendings, and fellows around. We truly do have such a supportive work environment here at VCU with residents often watching each other’s pets, covering shifts, and there’s always someone off work and wanting to hang out. Our program is definitely a social one and we frequently go out for food/drinks or try and do something outside like riding bikes or day trips around the city. I’ve loved the city of Richmond so far! There’s a TON of great restaurants with a wide range of cuisines as well as numerous breweries/cideries (many being dog friendly, which is definitely a theme of the city). If you enjoy outdoor activities, there are several trails in the city, and Belle Isle is a fun spot to swim and hang out. If you are looking for some other adventures, we are a quick drive to Charlottesville, VA for wine tasting, Virginia Beach, and to D.C. all of which I have been able to do since starting residency in July. We are very excited to show and tell you all about VCU and the Children’s Hospital of Richmond, so please reach out to us so we can answer your questions!
