Success story

A wheelchair-bound family member cares for a Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU patient. Their rented home has one bathroom and the sink and tub were clogged for months. Maintenance said they would fix the clogs but the problem persisted. The caregiver purchased gallons of a liquid drain cleaner, but it strained her budget and didn't solve the problem.

An MLP attorney called the landlord after meeting with the caregiver and asked them to make the repairs. The landlord dispatched maintenance while the attorney was on the phone and the drain was fixed before the family returned home!

The MLP attorney is now helping the family stretch its budget by assisting with food stamps and a ramp for their home, and is also setting up a standby guardian so there is a clear plan of care for the child in case the caregiver has recurrent health problems.
