      If your child has a physically disabling condition – temporary or long term – the specialized physical therapists at Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU can help your child gain new skills or relearn old ones involving physical and gross motor movement.

      Physical disabilities can be caused by a neurologic, orthopedic, developmental or congenital condition. Our therapists will conduct a comprehensive evaluation and develop an individualized treatment plan for your child and family.

      Evaluation and Treatment

      • Adaptive equipment, such as splints, casts, orthotics, walkers and wheelchairs
      • Balance and coordination
      • Developmental skills
      • Flexibility and posture
      • Gait training
      • Gross motor skills, such as sitting, standing and walking

      • Orthopedic or sports-related injuries
      • Return to sports after concussion
      • Strengthening
