Epilepsy Monitoring Unit
If your child with epilepsy suffers from uncontrolled seizures, a stay in Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU's Epilepsy Monitoring Unit can provide the information physicians need to enhance care and improve quality of life.
The specialized unit features continuous, digital video EEG monitoring to track and localize seizure activity, including for patients with surgically implanted EEG electrodes. Specially trained physicians use advanced safety measures for patients who must be withdrawn from medications to study and determine best medical or surgical treatment for seizures.
The unit comprises 5 private rooms to treat children and adults with treatment resistant epilepsy.
