CHoR's pediatric emergency room is on the ground floor of the Critical Care Hospital on the MCV Campus, 1213 E. Clay St., Richmond.
About the Facility
In an emergency, critically ill and injured children have access to all pediatric specialists 24 hours a day at Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU's pediatric emergency department.
The 10,000 sq. ft. emergency room has several unique features:
- Designated Level 1 pediatric trauma center
- Its own entrance and waiting room
- Dedicated pediatric radiology suite
- 12 large exam rooms with recliners for families
- Literacy center with books for children to take home
Critical Care Transport
Critically ill children are transported to CHoR from other hospitals any time, day or night, via CHoR's pediatric ground transport team and the VCU LifeEvac helicopter. Pediatric emergency medicine physicians provide medical command to referring physicians as needed, for transfer assistance or advice regarding the care of critically ill children.
Child Protection Team
CHoR's Child Protection Team evaluates, diagnoses and treats children who have been sexually or physically abused or neglected. Read more about the Team.
