    Aerodigestive Collaborative

    To better coordinate and improve care for pediatric patients with
    complex aerodigestive problems, a team of CHoR specialists meets
    monthly to consult, develop treatment plans, and coordinate referrals,
    procedures and follow-up.

    The group of approximately 20 providers, known as the Aerodigestive Collaborative, includes specialists from:

    Procedures performed by otolaryngology, pulmonary medicine and gastroenterology are often needed to fully evaluate disorders affecting the airway and digestive tract and a team goal is to coordinate procedures so a child only undergoes anesthesia once. A future goal is to see patients in a single visit with all providers present.

    The team provides comprehensive management for children with the following diseases/disorders:

    • Achalasia
    • Airway obstruction
    • Aphonia
    • Bronchomalacia
    • Bronchopulmonary dysplasia
    • Caustic ingestion with stricture
    • Chronic aspiration
    • Colon interposition
    • Dysphagia (problems feeding and swallowing)
    • Esophageal atresia
    • Esophageal web or stricture
    • Gastroesophageal reflux (GER)
    • Glottic stenosis
    • Hypoplastic lung
    • Hypoventilation
    • Interstitial lung disease
    • Laryngeal atresia, cleft and web
    • Laryngomalacia
    • Sleep disorders
    • Subglottic stenosis
    • Tracheal stenosis
    • Tracheoesophageal fistula
    • Tracheomalacia
    • Vocal cord paralysis
    • Voice disorders
