Acute Care/Hospital Medicine
If your child needs to be admitted for routine acute care, chronic illnesses or injury, your family will be cared for by our compassionate team of hospitalists; specialists; nurses; child life specialists; physical, occupational and speech therapists; school teachers; dietitians; respiratory therapists; and music and art therapists.
Hospitalists are doctors who only treat patients in the inpatient hospital setting, so they can provide parents with timely updates on their child's condition, and work closely with the primary care physician to ensure appropriate followup treatment.
They also work closely with the pediatric emergency department physicians and medical and surgical subspecialists to bring CHoR's full continuum of care to treat children of all ages with both common and complex medical issues.
We believe a partnership with children, families and health care providers is the best way to provide the most effective and complete patient care. We call this innovative approach family-centered care.
Acute care spans a wide range of conditions, including but not limited to:
- Cardiovascular problems
- Cystic fibrosis
- Gastrointestinal problems
- Kidney disease
- Neurological disorders
- Post-surgical care
- Traumatic injuries
