If your child needs to be admitted to Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU for routine acute care, chronic illnesses or injury, your family will be cared for by our compassionate team of physicians; nurses; child life specialists; physical, occupational and speech therapists; school teachers; dieticians; respiratory therapists; and music and art therapists.
At CHoR, we divide two dedicated pediatric units by age – a 17-bed unit for infants and toddlers, and a 24-bed unit for children ages 4 and older. A large homelike palliative care room is available for children who need comfort care and pain management services.
Acute care spans a wide range of conditions, including but not limited to:
- Cardiovascular problems
- Cystic fibrosis
- Gastrointestinal problems
- Kidney disease
- Neurological disorders
- Traumatic injuries
