Bio

Dr. Lee is a native Virginian who grew up in Virginia Beach. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA in economics. He received his MD degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1994 and completed his pediatric residency at VCU Health System in 1997. Afterward, he served as chief resident before leaving the comforts of VCU.

Dr. Lee has worked as an office practitioner and a pediatric emergency room physician at CJW Medical Center. In 2007, he started the pediatric hospitalist program at CJW Medical Center. In September 2011, he made the transition to academic medicine by accepting the director of pediatric hospital medicine position at the Children?s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR) where he has been ever since. He also serves as the co-director of the M3 Pediatric Clerkship and program director of pediatric hospital medicine fellowship. CHoR has the only pediatric hospital medicine fellowship in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and he has been instrumental in its inception. In 2015 Dr. Lee received the Senior Fellow in Hospital Medicine (SFHM) designation from the Society of Hospital Medicine. The SFHM designation gives hospitalists the opportunity to be recognized for their work and commitment to the practice of hospital medicine and the patients they serve.

Dr. Lee serves as the Region 4 co-chair of the Academic Pediatric Association. He is actively involved with COMSEP, a national organization for pediatric medical educators, and AAP Section on Hospital Medicine. He has received numerous teaching awards including the Irby-James Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching, a top teaching award from the VCU School of Medicine.
