Transitional Care Unit Earns Recognition for Quality Care

Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU's Brook Road Campus Transitional Care Unit (TCU) has been recognized as a Tier lll facility by the American Health Care Association (AHCA). The Quality Initiative Recognition Program is designed to recognize AHCA nursing center members that demonstrate the attainment of one or more of the four AHCA Quality Initiative goals:
- Safely reduce hospital readmissions by 15 percent
- Increase staff stability by 15 percent
- Increase customer satisfaction to 90 percent
- Safely reduce the off-label use of antipsychotics by 15 percent
Sharon Darby, DNP, RN, NHA, FACHE, vice president of operations for CHoR's Brook Road Campus said that out of approximately 11,000 nursing centers across the country, about 150 are designated Tier IV. Darby hopes to join that elite group in 2015.
