New Pediatric Clinical Research Unit opens in Children's Pavilion
Friday, January 27, 2017
Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU's Pediatric Clinical Research Unit opened on January 27, 2017. The new 850-square-foot outpatient clinical area is located on the Sky Lobby of the Children's Pavilion, adjacent to lab services and the Sibling Center. The PCRU is a reflection of CHoR's dedication to support compassionate clinical care with innovative research as a national leader in children's health.
Pediatric clinical research was previously conducted in an adult-focused unit of VCU Medical Center's North hospital. The new pediatric-only space is staffed by pediatric trained team members and is designed to enhance the patient experience by making clinical research appointments more comfortable and efficient for families.
The PCRU includes three exam rooms; four work spaces for principal investigators, nurse and coordinators; as well as dedicated storage for medical and research equipment. The unit operates in partnership with the C. Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research Unit.
To arrange a tour, schedule patients or learn more about the PCRU, please contact Melissa Yopp, associate administrator for research, department of pediatrics, or Dr. Henry Rozycki, vice chair for research, Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU.
