Changes to my therapy bill

Why did the name on my bill change?

As of January 1, 2021, the legal name on outpatient therapy (all therapy centers) and operating room (Brook Road location only) bills has changed from Children’s Rehabilitative Services to VCU Medical Center.

Why is this change happening?

Children’s Hospital and VCU Medical Center joined together in 2010 to create a full-service, comprehensive children’s hospital, Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. Since our affiliation in 2010, many of our operational processes have changed behind the scenes to further integrate under the VCU Health System umbrella. These changes are all designed to enhance the patient experience and improve operational efficiencies.

What does this change mean for the services my child receives?

Not much! The change in the legal provider name you see on your bill is not due to any negative factors like financial trouble or COVID-19. All six of our therapy centers remain strong and continue to thrive. Your child will still have access to the same services, specialists and care you have come to know and trust.

Who do I contact if I have questions about my bill?

Your billing team is not changing! The same team members are still here to answer your questions and assist with payments. Call 804-321-7474 and ask to speak to someone in account services.

Do I need to call a different number to schedule an appointment?

That’s not changing either! You can call the therapy center you currently use for services.

Can I still see my favorite therapist?

Yes! You’ll have access to the same care, team and locations as you did before.

Is the cost of care going up?

No, your cost of care will not increase.
